| Elementary vs Secondary Education? (Confused Future Teacher)? I'm only fourteen, but I plan on becoming a teacher. I want to attend Michigan State University because of it's consecutive high rankings for Education and internship opportunities. I am also going to join the Future Teachers of America when I enter high school in a few days. I consider myself creative, patient, outgoing, funny, and very much a people person. I love writing and history, but I struggle with grammar. I was considering majoring in Secondary Education and minoring in English and History. Now, I feel like I should major in Elementary Education (yet still minor in English and History) because I lack confidence in my ability to teach a subject in depth and at a higher level. I know it sounds silly, but I feel like I am just average in all classes. I'm nervous I will let down a group of older kids. So, what I'm asking is, based on what I've told you, what do you think I should do? Also, if you are a teacher, can you tell me about your experiences teaching a certain level? Thank you so much! |
