Should I be concerned about my son becoming a Serial Killer? Please Help?

Thank author of this post/commentMy son is 16 and has always had a very creative mind and is very smart. He loves science, history, writing, etc.. but seems to have a very dark side. He likes to spend long hours by himself writing lots of stories in his spare time. The subjects of his stories have become darker and darker. He often writes about being a dictator or mass murderer. He wrote a book about starting World War III and the Apocalypse that I couldn't even finish due to the graphic and grisly nature of it. At the time I didn't think much of it and simply joked with him to "Lighten up". Then he recently wrote a story about becoming a respected scientist but secretly creating a biological weapon to release a horrible plague onto humanity that will be worse than the black death. He gets into gruesome, gritty, nauseating details about murders and features himself as the killer in most of the stories. Many stories involve people being endlessly taunted and tortured before being killed in a brutal fashion, or else they're about causing massive war or genocide. And he is very interested in reading about famous serial killers, and dictators like Hitler and famous cult leaders. My wife says he's just exercising his creative potential, but should I believe that or should I be concerned? I asked if he wants to talk to a therapist about his thoughts but he refuses and says he doesn't have a problem and just doesn't like the state of the world or most people. What should I think??
