How do I write a short story?

Thank author of this post/commentI need to write a short story for a class about anything i want to. I already have a topic that i chose but i can't seem to find a way to start writing. Does anyone know any techniques that would help a person to just write? My problem seems to be that i want it to be perfect right away (and obviously it won't be) but I can't seem to get past that.

Dear Picariello

Every writer has their own voice. Don't be afraid of yours.

Start by writing a few introductory lines on your topic.

Expand from there, make it interesting, include other opinions on the topic, and finish it off with a conclusion.

Don't try to write too much. Start with about 400 words. See how you go. Good Luck.

Hi there!

It is really hard to write a story even if its a short one. I really am not that familiar on the techniques and tips on how top be a good writer but if it is your dream, from the experience you have, learning there things about it will be a little easier.

Thanks you so much to all of you guys and have a great day to all!

It's easier to write a short story because the topic is about anything that you want. Follow your heart and write anything that interests you. Then write the important details of your story. Make a draft out of the information that you have. As you go deeper, you'll be amazed how your imagination works. Give yourself the freedom to write anything that you want and everything will follow. Write a good introduction and conclusion. It should be original so that it looks more special. Lastly, check all your grammar and proper usage of words. Good luck!

You know your problem; wishing for perfection the first time. I havethe same problem and I've had to train myself to ge over it. When writing the first draft, get it all on paper and don't look back until the end. Then, you can trim, cut, expand, add things from that point but until it's all on paper in a first draft form, it'll be difficult to "find your voice" if it's all still in your head.

It is really hard to write stories even how short and simple it is. I really admire people that are really in great shape in making a good catch on the way they passionately write their craft. I hope it will be possible for me to know much about the things that I could used in writing. I hope I can be that knowledgeable in the Writing techniques I have.
